● City releases plans for construction of the O’Connor bike lane this summer.

The City of Ottawa has released design details and plans for the construction of the first phase of the O’Connor bike lane. Work on this phase will begin this summer and will be completed in the fall.

The bike lane will run along O’Connor street from the Glebe to downtown Ottawa, and it will provide a north-south cycling route to get to and from the city’s core. A good portion of it will be a segregated bike lane, similar to what currently exist on Laurier Avenue.

This bike lane has been part of Ottawa’s Transportation Master Plan for several years, and City Council approved its construction last June.

The city will be holding a Public Information Session about the project on Monday, March 7th, 2016, from 7 to 9 PM at the Dominion Chalmers Church (Woodside Hall), at 355 Cooper Street, Ottawa.
