Maybe you’re flying south this winter, or perhaps you’re planning a trip next summer. If you’re going to be travelling with your bicycle, think twice about booking with Air Canada.
The Bicycle Magazine website has an interesting story about how Air Canada charged a whopping $577 to check in a bicycle as baggage on a one-way flight from Europe to Canada. This isn’t the only time Air Canada charged such a exorbitant fee. Apparently, a few weeks earlier another person had to pay close to $500 on a flight from Toronto to Texas.
When flying to Europe with my bicycle, I have had good luck with Air Transat’s baggage policy. In addition to one piece of regular luggage, Air Transat charges $30 (each way) for checking in a bicycle as baggage.
