The NCC’s “Nokia Sunday Bikedays” starts this weekend, and features over 50 kilometres of car-free parkways on Sunday mornings in Ottawa and the Gatineau Park from May 21 to September 3, 2017. In Ottawa, the parkways are closed to motorized vehicles from 9 am to 1 pm, and most of the parkways in the Gatineau Park are closed to motorized vehicles from 6 am to 11 am. To help celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary, a special loop involving Wellington Street in downtown Ottawa, Laurier Street in Gatineau, as well as the Portage and Alexandra bridges, will be closed to motorists this Sunday. Road closures for the special loop are only for this Sunday, May 21, 2017, and are in addition to the usual road closures for Sunday Bikedays. Click here for more information about the special loop.
Note that Sunday Bikedays is cancelled on some of the parkways in Ottawa on Sunday, May 28, to accommodate the Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend.
