BIke route (Orleans to Ottawa General Hospital)
I live in the west-end, so I can’t be of much help. I have, however, cycled to the Ottawa General Hospital (on Smyth Road) on a number of occasions, and I can tell you that there are really no good bicycle routes that cross the area between the Queensway and Industrial Ave (except for the bicycle path which runs right next to the Rideau River).
You will have carefully study the bicycle map published by the City of Ottawa to figure out the best options (the paper version of the map which sells for $2 is much easier to work with than the online version). Unfortunately, it seems that there will be gaps in your route where you may have to ride on relatively busy roads. You may want to use Google’s “Street View” feature to check out the suitability of these roads for cycling.
Hopefully, someone else will have more suggestions.
