Why it’s good to go cycling (even when you have a heart attack).

Yesterday afternoon a 45 year old  man was riding his bicycle on Wellington Street in Ottawa when he had a heart attack. According to one news report, he had no pulse.

Luckily, the three cyclists riding behind him were doctors - one of them a cardiologist. They stopped to perform CPR. Then a passing OC Transpo security officer stopped with a public access defibrillator. The man was given an electrical shock.

By the time paramedics took the man to the hospital, he was conscious and talking (but still in serious condition).
