● New dedicated bicycle lane coming to the ByWard Market area.
A bi-directional dedicated bike lane will be built on Mackenzie Avenue, according to the National Capital Commission (NCC) website.
Mackenzie Avenue is located on the west side the ByWard Market area in downtown Ottawa. It is a fairly short road that connects Rideau and St. Patrick Streets, and runs next to Major’s Hill Park and the American Embassy.
The NCC website does not give a date when the bike lane will be completed, but it does say that it is a collaborative project involving the City of Ottawa, the NCC, and the American Embassy. The NCC website also provided an artist’s concept of what the bike lane might look like (see attached photo).
