● UN Generally Assembly declares June 3rd as World Bicycle Day.

According to the European Cyclists’ Federation, the UN Generally Assembly recently adopted a resolution declaring June 3rd as World Bicycle Day.

So what does this mean for the average cyclist? Well, these type of things can sometimes help get the federal government to do a little more to promote cycling in Canada, which in turn will probably mean that the provinces will get a little more funding for cycling projects, and this money will ultimately be transferred to municipalities where it can be spent on bicycle infrastructure.

It’s a long slow trickle down process, but eventually, it can make a difference for the average cyclist. In the meantime, don’t forget to wish everyone “Happy World Bicycle Day” on June 3rd.
