● Don’t forget – May is Bike to Work Month in Ottawa.

Last year’s Bike to Work Month was hampered by the region’s severe flooding. But it looks like this shouldn’t be a problem this year, so it’s time to go to work on your bicycle.

The Bike to Work Month campaign encourages people to start using their bicycles to commute to work by providing all sorts of useful information, and by giving everyone a chance to win over $10,000 in prizes from local businesses. People are also invited to the annual “Bike in Breakfast” from 7am to 9am on May 8, 2018, at the intersection of Bank Street and Laurier Avenue.

Bike to Work prizes include bicycles, cycling clothing, a variety of bicycle accessories, professional bike tune ups, overnight stays at local hotels, a table for 10 at Yuk Yuks, a dinner for 10 at the Royal Oak, a train travel certificate from VIA, and much more. In order to be eligible to win a prize, you have to sign up at www.biketoworkottawa.ca, and then log your bike commutes in May. Prizes are drawn randomly from people participating in the Bike to Work campaign.

To help you get started, the organizers of Bike to Work Month have produced a handbook with tips and other useful information.
