● Where does everyone cycle?

Here’s something neat. It’s a map that shows routes ridden by cyclists all over the world based on frequency of use. The brighter the route, the more often it’s used.

It is based on rides people record on their GPS units and then upload to Strava. So the information is bias to GPS users and cyclists who tend to keep track of their training rides. Nevertheless, the map provides an instant picture of where people are doing a lot of cycling, whether it be in your immediate neighbourhood or on a global perspective. You can zoom in to see the individual routes, or zoom out to see the cycling hot spots on the planet.
